Ceres: Regional Center for Fruit and Vegetable Innovation, Valparaíso

 

The Regional Center for Fruit and Vegetable Innovation in Valparaíso, Ceres, was established in 2011 as a transdisciplinary research center with a strong regional engagement. Through a participatory approach, the center works with different agricultural sectors to satisfy the need for creating scientific and innovation alliances within the region and with national and international groups.

Ceres works with 6 key concepts:

  1. Competitiveness
  2. Sustainability
  3. Innovation
  4. Participative Metrology
  5. Territory-based approach
  6. Science

The mission of the center is to strengthen fruit and vegetable development in the Valparaíso Region, through scientific and innovative research activities, integrating sustainability in competitiveness on a long term basis, building regional capacities and inserting advanced human capital, which will secure an effective support to the economic and social development of the region.
